As you can imagine it has been a long time in recovering from having to close CafeNoir, we do feel accomplished in the creation of a great place, hisuk is now using it to his profit, he had to pay for nothing for CafeNoir, He actually got paid every month for 3 years to watch his 2 restaurants building out. smart? greedy? opportunist? capitalist? heartless? the story will tell.
So many things against us, no money to start with, If i remember Hi_Suk took right of the bat 8000 dollars an ran with a contract that he told us was fair, one page, a few words with a few i did no understood but I trust this man, Korean like my wife, I feel a special bond established, he is a father figure for her and she feels that way toward him which is nice so many time she felt betrayed, the place has potential but completely empty ,an old heater hanging in he middle of the room, a tiny office lost in this big space and a bathroom that has not seen much water in days, the rent is steep $4250 a month, hisuk told us that we better jump in since others are interested and it is cheap, I complain about the 3 year lease asking for 10 years but he told us nobody do those any more, we trust him. I'm asking if he can help by giving some incentive since the place has nothing and the building part is going to be expensive but he relish and says again this is old practices and business owner do not participate much. as to the questions of permits for construction, he is telling us that he draw the plan for his restaurant, The Soizic, on a napkin and he was done in six months, i came to realized few months down the road that it was this way 15 years ago! not anymore!! and with a lot of money too, but we trusted him. Not Any more.
